Mervin married Rose Koyle on February 11, 2005, in Martinez, California.

Mervin was born and raised on the family farm in Ferron and surrounding communities where he gained a love for working with animals, especially horses. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities throughout his life including Stake Patriarch, a member of the Bishopric, Scout Master, and as a teacher in various church auxiliaries. He also served in the community as ASCS Committee Chairman, Peach Days chairman, and with the Special Service District. Mervin was a mechanic and auto body repairman in Price. He found joy in farming and ranching. He was a cowboy’s cowboy and loved his horses. However, Mervin’s greatest love was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He also had a great love for the Gospel and for his friends and the people in Emery County.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; four children: Karrie (Jed) Behling of Ferron, Mervin Merrill (Julie Wallace) of Molen, Delaina (James) Nielsen of Clawson, and Laurie Ruth (Kent) Larsen of Ferron; two brothers: Morris (Lola) Duncan of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Everett (Nola) Duncan of Pleasant Grove, Utah; a sister-in-law, Beth (Keith) Winn of Molen; 29 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruth; three brothers and one sister: Leland, Orsen, Luellyn, and Jean; brother-in-law, Richard Harris; and two grandchildren: Mistie Nielsen Myers and Candace Behling.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ferron LDS church on the hill (35 West 200 North). There will be a viewing on Friday, November 25 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 N. Center St., Castle Dale) and on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Work...We've had so much rain this year, even enough to go canoeing on the motorcycle trails.
The only downfall is that I work less hours, still the hours I do get are surely full of adventures.

Renaissance Festival 2011
Tyler and I will use any excuse to play dress up.

His nieces accompanied us on our adventurous day. We left with our stomachs full of Root Beer and fresh turkey legs... Yum!!

Ty's brother plays and sings Irish Jigs, his band is called the Rovin Boosers. Jolly good music it is!
